Green School Initiative

The Cobb County Green School Initiative, managed by Cobb Water, has just finished up another year of recognizing Cobb County and Marietta City teachers and schools that provide environmental education lessons to their students. To qualify as a Green School, a school must have at least 20% of classrooms receive Green Classroom designations by completing 5 lesson plans or projects in each classroom that help students learn about and protect the environment. One of the 5 lessons is required to be a service project and at least one lesson must be taught outdoors. In total, 24 schools received a Green School designation for the 2024/25 school year. These designations represent the work of 417 teachers who taught a total of 2,085 lessons and reported 2,856 hours of environmental education for 21,840 students. Click to view the annual report.
