Mid-Winter Break 2025: Exploring the Cobb Library Events Calendar

The Cobb County Public Library events calendar for Mid-Winter Break features a range of programs for young children, students and adults, organizers say. School is out for students and educators February 17-21 for the Cobb County and Marietta City school districts, and for many independent schools and homeschool families.

Activities during the week at Cobb libraries cover arts and crafts, music, STEM projects, story sharing, games and dance. Upcoming CCPL programs include:

African Cultural Fest 2025, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Charles D. Switzer Library, 266 Roswell St. in Marietta. The event is organized as a popular Black History Month celebration for all ages. The Feb. 19 event features Cobb Library Teens performing drama and dance, a fashion show, and servings of African jollof rice. For more information, call 770-528-2320.

Switzer Library is presenting the Around the World Children’s Festival on Monday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The all-ages second annual event will be a mix of games, crafts, music and prizes. The Feb. 17 event is a celebration of cultures from all over the globe.

A dozen community organizations are staging Family STEAM Night on Wednesday, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at North Cobb Regional Library 3535 Old 41 Highway, Kennesaw 30144. Hands-on activities on the theme of exploration meets innovation will include building catapults, designing wearable circuits, crafting high-flying paper airplanes and stargazing through high-powered telescopes. Johnny Crawford’s Vietnam: Black Soldiers Portrait Project exhibit is at North Cobb Regional Library through April 5. The exhibit is presented by the South Cobb Arts Alliance. Over a career of four-plus decades, Crawford has documented life across 45 states and four continents. He served as an award-winning staff photographer for over 28 years for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The reception with the artist on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the library will feature live music by Atlanta Blues Society and light refreshments.

Pokémon Meetup, a game program for children in grades 1-5, is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at Mountain View Regional Library, 3320 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta 30066. No registration is required. For more information, call 770-509-2725.

Pokémon Club for children ages 6-12 and families meets 3:30 p.m. Mondays at West Cobb Regional Library, 1750 Dennis Kemp Ln NW, Kennesaw 30152. Pokémon Club is a drop-in event. No registration is required.

Monday Teen Create, a chance for teens to engage in science and art by creating STEM experiments and art projects, meets 2:30 p.m. Mondays at Switzer Library. All materials are provided.

Tamil Storytime for children ages 5-8 and their participating adults, meets 3 p.m. on select Saturdays at Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center, 2051 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta 30068. Guest presenter Jeya Maran leads the program featuring reading, songs and games all in the Tamil language. Registration is required. Visit cobbcat.org for details.

The next monthly Songwriters’ Circle program is 6:30 p.m. Monday at Vinings Library, 4290 Paces Ferry Rd., Atlanta 30339. Each session, facilitated by musician, singer and songwriter Emily Burnette, exclusively features original works with a focus on complete songs, incomplete compositions and song lyrics. Participants are encouraged to bring their equipment. Registration at cobbcat.org is encouraged.

The next monthly Trivia Night session with Jeopardy! star and trivia whiz Raymond Goslow is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Switzer Library. Team and solo participants play trivia using the Kahoot app. Registration for the Feb. 18 round is encouraged at cobbcat.org.

Crochet Meetup is 2 p.m. Saturdays at Switzer Library, 266 Roswell St. in downtown Marietta. All materials will be provided. No registration required. For information, call 770-528-2320.

Knits & Stitches, a program for fiber artists of all skill levels to engage in personal knitting, crochet or cross stitch, meets 2 p.m. every Saturday at Sweetwater Valley Library, 5000 Austell-Powder Springs Rd., Austell 30126. For information, call 770-819-3291.
