Cobb County Launches Economic Development Strategic Plan Initiative

Cobb County has long been a driving force behind Georgia’s success as the No. 1 state for business for eleven consecutive years. As one of Georgia’s largest and most economically vibrant counties, Cobb continues to attract companies seeking a strong business climate, a skilled workforce, and a supportive community.

To build on that success, the Cobb County Economic Development Department is launching an Economic Development Strategic Plan — a forward-looking effort designed to strengthen our local economy, support existing businesses, and attract new opportunities.

Through this initiative, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the department will work with community leaders, business owners, and residents to create a clear, actionable roadmap for growth. The plan will identify strategic goals that promote job creation, encourage private investment, and ensure Cobb remains a top destination for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Economic Development team is deeply engaged in the community, providing resources, funding, and support to businesses of all sizes and industries — from large corporations to local startups.

In the coming weeks, residents and business owners will have opportunities to share their input and help shape the county’s economic future.

Economic Development Strategic Plan - What's Next?

Cobb County is currently working on its very first Economic Development Strategic Plan (EDSP)! The purpose of this EDSP is to build on prior planning efforts, developing a focused lens on overarching goals and implementable strategies to promote economic growth and enrich the quality of life in Cobb County.

With our consultant team, led by KB Advisory Group, we will be:

  • Taking a deep dive into where the County stands today,
  • Gathering feedback from residents and businesses across the County to understand your own economic visions for the next five years, as well as current challenges,
  • Convene with partners locally, regionally, and at the state level to devise efficient and coordinated economic development efforts, and
  • Develop a comprehensive, implementable plan that includes a detailed blueprint with specific strategies and action items for us to pursue over the next five years.
