Cobb County Juvenile Court’s Public Programs Coordinator, Valina Scotland, LPC, was the featured presenter at the Cobb Collaborative’s Positive Childhood Alliance (PCA) meeting on October 22nd. Ms. Scotland played a key role in researching and selecting the risk-needs-responsivity (RNR) assessment tool currently used with youth at the Cobb County Juvenile Court. The evidence-based assessment tool helps determine a youth’s probability of reoffending and guides effective case management planning. During her presentation, Ms. Scotland emphasized that when youth are properly assessed, they are more likely to receive targeted and appropriate services, ultimately contributing to lower recidivism rates and improved long-term outcomes.
