Cobb County man sentenced to life for crimes against a child

(MARIETTA, Ga. — April 22, 2025) District Attorney Sonya F. Allen announced today that Cooper Hamilton, 20, has been sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years following his guilty plea to 25 counts related to the sexual exploitation and abuse of a minor child.
In February 2024, the Cobb County Police Department received a tip from the FBI indicating that Hamilton was allegedly producing and sharing illegal material involving a minor via the dark web. Cobb County Police Detective Felker led the investigation, which uncovered more than 100 videos created by Hamilton depicting repeated acts of abuse. Many of the videos were found to have been recorded between 2020 and November 2023.
Investigators also found evidence that Hamilton had secretly taken exploitative photographs of the child and shared them online.
Hamilton pled guilty to 25 charges of aggravated child molestation and sexual exploitation of children. Cobb County Superior Court Judge A. Gregory Poole, who presided over the case, described the evidence as “disturbing” and characterized Hamilton as a “predator who poses a significant danger to the community.”
“This case represents one of the most serious violations of trust and innocence that we see in the criminal justice system,” said District Attorney Sonya F. Allen. “We are grateful to the investigators and prosecutors who worked tirelessly to secure justice for the victim.”
District Attorney Allen would like to thank Assistant District Attorney Lindsay Raynor and other members of the office, as well as the Cobb County Police Department, for their hard work and dedication in securing this outcome.
