Cobb County Government Announces Website Transition to .GOV Domain for Enhanced Security and Public Trust

Cobb County Government is transitioning its official website from cobbcounty.org to cobbcounty.gov to improve security, credibility, and accessibility for residents.

The transition will officially take place on June 2, 2025.  Pages on the cobbcounty.gov site will redirect to the cobbcounty.gov site automatically.

This change aligns with federal and state best practices for government agencies, ensuring that county services remain secure, transparent, and easily accessible to the public.  The county’s Information Technology Services Department has been working for more than a year to make this transition as seamless as possible for those who use our website.  cobbcounty.gov attracted more than 8 million visits last year, as residents count on it to pay bills, look up information on county government services, or provide feedback.

“By adopting a .GOV domain, we are taking an important step to strengthen cybersecurity and enhance public confidence in our online services,” said Dr. Jackie McMorris, County Manager. “Residents can trust that when they visit our website, they are accessing official government information and services.”

Key Benefits of the Transition:

  • Enhanced Security – .GOV domains are reserved for verified government entities, reducing the risk of fraud and phishing attacks.
  • Greater Public Trust – Residents can be confident they are using an official county website for government resources and services.
  • Improved Searchability – .GOV websites are prioritized in search engine results, making it easier for residents to find important information.
  • Stronger Email Security – Official county government email addresses will now use @cobbcounty.gov, improving protection against phishing and spoofing.

What Residents Need to Know:

  • The new official website will be: cobbcounty.gov
  • The old address will remain accessible for a limited time, but residents should update their bookmarks.
  • Emails sent to @cobbcounty.gov addresses will continue to work for a limited time; however, contact information should be transitioned to @cobbcounty.gov as soon as possible.
