Cobb County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Lisa Cupid convened a diverse group of regional leaders on Tuesday, Aug. 5, for the fifth annual Dobbins Air Reserve Base Stakeholder Meeting — a high-level roundtable focused on strengthening partnerships and securing the long-term success of one of Cobb’s most valuable assets.

The meeting provided an in-depth briefing on the operations, projects, and community impact of Dobbins Air Reserve Base. Attendees heard updates on initiatives that reinforce the base’s vital role as both a strategic military site and a driving force in Cobb’s economy.

Newly promoted Brigadier General Michael Parks, Commander of the 94th Airlift Wing, led the presentation, sharing current projects and plans for the base and emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration. He noted that the relationship between Dobbins and Cobb County is stronger than ever — a sentiment echoed by many in the room.

Leaders from across the region joined in the discussion, including representatives from Lockheed Martin, the Georgia Tech Research Institute, the Cobb Board of Education, the City of Marietta, Marietta City Schools, the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, members of the county’s legislative delegation and local citizens. Cobb County government department directors also highlighted the many ways their teams coordinate with Dobbins, from airspace and road planning to wastewater management and emergency response training.

A common thread throughout the meeting was partnership — not only between government and military entities, but also among education, business, and civic organizations.

“For the past five years, these meetings have provided a vital forum for community leaders and stakeholders to come together in support of Dobbins Air Reserve Base,” said Chairwoman Cupid. “We value the economic and strategic importance of the base and remain committed to being strong partners in its continued success. By working collaboratively, we can help secure a bright future for Dobbins and the surrounding community.”
