Cobb 911 enhances training program with AI simulations

The Cobb County Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) proudly announces a new partnership with public safety technology company GovWorx to enhance its training program. Cobb 911 will utilize GovWorx's CommsCoach Simulations, an AI-powered training platform built specifically for emergency communications. With this partnership, Cobb County 911 becomes the first emergency communications center in Georgia to implement this innovative training solution.
Developed by 911 industry veterans with over 25 years of experience, CommsCoach simulates realistic, high-pressure emergency calls, providing new telecommunicators with hands-on experience in a controlled, low-risk environment before they answer a live call. The system features dynamic elements, such as background noise, distressed or uncooperative callers, and rapidly evolving emergencies, designed to reflect the real-world challenges of the job.
“This groundbreaking technology is a powerful step forward in how we prepare the next generation of 911 professionals,” said DEC Director Melissa Alterio. “This partnership exemplifies how Cobb County 911 embraces innovation and finds new ways to provide excellent service and the most superior level possible."
One of the biggest advantages of the DEC training team utilizing this program is the consistency it brings to training. Recruits will experience high-quality scenarios, enabling the training team to shift their focus from acting out calls in traditional training methods, such as role-play and classroom lectures, to coaching and skill development.
“CommsCoach Simulations is designed to elevate training beyond the classroom,” said Scott MacDonald, GovWorx CEO and Co-Founder. “With this partnership, Cobb County 911 is making sure its team has the tools they need to succeed, without replacing the critical role of human leadership, discretion, and care.”
Cobb DEC will officially launch CommsCoach in the coming weeks during the academic phase of training with the agency’s latest recruit class. The DEC’s training team has tailored the platform to align with Cobb’s operational protocols and real-life scenarios.
